God Wants Your Life

And He can do amazing things with it.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Matthew 10:39: He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

John 12:25: He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

See also Matthew 16:25, Luke 9:24 and 17:23. You will love your life more when God possesses it.

1 Peter 3:10: For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Believers have three enemies, the world the flesh and the Devil who will steal as much of their lives from Him as they possibly can.

Acts 6:1: And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

This commitment to the Lord was not just for the Apostles and special disciples. It is for all of us.

1 Corinthians 7:5: Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

The Apostles had the same enemies you and I have and they sometimes lost battles with the enemies too, but the main thrust of their lives was to serve the Lord.

Romans 7:18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Galatians 2:11: But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

1 Corinthians 3:12: Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man*s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man*s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man*s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man*s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Paul, Peter and the other apostles had some wood, hay and stubble and God wants us to have as much gold, silver and precious stones as possible. The best times of my life are the times that belong to the Lord. They are gold, silver and precious stones.

Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

2 Corinthians 4:7: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Mark 9:41: For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
